heh,so does this also have all the maps u got in ur classic map pack 1 and 2 as well?

It has everything I can find. BTW: I have removed several downloads from my site to conserve bandwidth:

Classic Mega Pack
BLUEORBS Prop Pack

Best Maps 1 & 2
Crimson Keep Map Pack

Sense these are already in MoTA, I figured I would remove the other files.

Hmm. Well I made these images for you to help visualize the proper installation of MoTA. Take note of any inconsistancies (This image is of a minimum install WITH VERSION 1.1 GAME PATCH):

***THESE IMAGES ARE OF A FRESH MINIMUM INSTALL OF THE REDEMPTION GAME WITH VERSION 1.1 GAME PATCH (https://e-mods.net/downloads/tools/VampirePatch_1_1.zip)***

Note the circled areas:

These are all of the Codex class files that should be included in MoTA's Codex folder. Be sure that they are all there:

Also take note of the codex path. Be sure that's where those class files went.

They work just fine on my end. Try the right-click on them and choose 'Save Link(target) As..."

See if that helps. I did enable hotlink protection earlier today.

I've got this same problem.  Previously, I installed the White Rabbit mod, though I doubt that would be the culprit.  EDIT: Just remembered that I also installed AoRMod as well.

I extracted each of the .zip files' contents to the Vampire folder, and everything seems to look like your example pics.  I can find no missing or misplaced files.

I get the following error upon crashing to desktop.

This error occurs no matter which map I select, even the default maps and salons.  It did not occur prior to installing the MoTA Megapack.

Post by: Javokis on 2006-08-14, 18:20:22
All I can think of is that the problem is most likely with your computers. Something is absent that I have that you guys don't. I have done several re-installs of the game in various areas. I have even tested out what would happen if important files were missing. The only thing I have discovered is that if you did not properly install MoTA_Core.nob correctly, you will crash to desktop trying to load the maps. Well you'll get a frozen 'Load' message.

That's all I have discovered.

Other than that, you might have swap memory limitations that could be interfering with the pack. Make sure you have enough space (with room to spare) to install the pack.
Title: Re: [Sticky] Maps of the Ages Download
Post by: Nrvnqsr Chaos on 2006-08-14, 21:36:39
Well, I'm sure there's no memory limitations.  My computer's got 512 MB of system memory (448 usable, thanks to Windows), 142 gigabytes of free HD space, and my paging file size is set to a range between 1536 and 2048 Megabytes.  Should be more than enough for Redemption to run.

I'll rant out my system specs for you.  Maybe you'll spot something that's incompatible with the pack...

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.99 Ghz
Video Card: ATI Radeon XPRESS 200-series, 256MB
Sound Card: Realtek AC97 Audio

I'm going to keep tinkering with it,  because I really want to be able to play this map compilation.  Thanks for at least looking at the problem and trying to find a solution.

EDIT: OK... time to list every last inconsistency between my Vampire folder and your screenies up there.

These are all the differences between my Vampire folder and yours.  I did previously insall AoRMod, and tried to install E-Mod, but stopped when a screen came up during install that said that only the E-Mod team is allowed to install the mod - I figured that, despite it being made publically available, it would be best to not install it, since I'm not a member of any mod testing team that I'm aware of.

UPDATE: Continued tinkering around, problem is partially fixed.  I first tried reinstalling Redemption, but noticed that it wouldn't reinstall after being uninstalled.  I noticed that Redemption is a non-unicode application, and I had my code-page settings set for Japanese for non-unicode applications.  I disabled all foreign language services and switched the code page back to English.  After a couple restarts, Redemption installed flawlessly.  Once reinstalled, before I did anything else, I re-extracted MOTA from its archives fresh and reapplied it.  Firing up Vampire, entering my CD-key, and loading up a multiplayer LAN game (where I was the only player,) most of the maps work fine, with maybe a few texture issues.  I know Hammond By Night works OK (the lighting is a little weird in some places, and there's a faint box around my character's shadows), and all the default maps work alright, but VVV's Haven is black and almost textureless, and it crashes upon exit with the error message I posted above.  Choddy's Tzimisce Loft doesn't work at all - crashes upon loading with the above error message.

I'll continue tinkering around, let me know if you recognize any of these problems and/or have solutions for them.
Title: Re: [Sticky] Maps of the Ages Download
Post by: Javokis on 2006-08-15, 01:11:04
Other than some settings in your language configurations, you have very similar specs to my own pc. I too have an Athlon 64 3200 Fenice with an ATI x-series. (x700) Interesting that yours has more vid mem than mine...  :-\

Though I have 1gig of ram.

So I take it you had re-configured your OS? I just keep mine at default settings and run programs from there. Maybe that's why I don't have issues. My OS is a fresh install of XP Pro (Student Edition - meaning I bought it for $15 bucks and its the same as the full version, but you have to stay in school to keep the license going).

As for the Pack:

I only discovered one problem so far and that is the flint_airfield does not load because the level was typoed. I'll send a MoTA_System.zip fix for that, but I never had issues with the Tzimisce Loft. Hammond by Night uses fog effects and the game tends to make shadows look odd in fog so that's normal - it's just a graphics limiation in the engine. VVV's haven worked fine for me.

I'm thinking that the encoding of these files are causing issues with your configurations. Last I checked the chronicle files were created by notepad on default save settings (ANSI). Not sure if unicode will fix the problem... or make it worse. I'm also unsure if some of the files ended up formated differently because some of them were created by Chronicle Director and others look like they were made by notepad or wordpad.

All of them were altered by me using notepad under standard save settings. I don't know if this info will be helpful.

Well, since the game is a non-unicode application that works normally under WinXP, I'd suggest not changing anything.  Chances are, re-encoding any portions of your map-pack to Unicode will break them, as Redemption may not be able to read it.

As for reconfiguring my OS, I had to.  The factory defaults had tons of crap loaded into it by default that I neither needed nor wanted, including such things as GAIN applications (adware), WildTangent games (spyware), RealPlayer (malware), and various other junk - I had to go through my control panel, registry, services, everything to get rid of it all - it's possible that I screwed something up along the way.  As for the language settings, I'm a frequent importer of foreign video games, particularly doujinshi (japanese fan-made) games, but now my system's back to its language defaults so those shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Thanks for the tips on the fog - I'll just add -nofog to the game's shortcut, to remove that problem entirely (don't like the fog effect anyway).  As for the textures and crashing, I'll keep tinkering with it.

Thanks for your time and assistance.

EDIT: OK, I'm thinking about going through and trying ALL of the MOTA maps, to see which work and which don't.  Maybe, by looking through the list of maps that don't work on my system, you'll notice something they have in common, and that might reveal what the blargh the problem is here.

EDIT: <test results removed>

UPDATE: Well, I think I may have found my problem... and it's not with your map pack at all.  By accident, I started a single-player game, and found missing geometry and textures all over the place, complete with a crash on exit with the same error message.

Curses.  This means I must've screwed up something, somewhere, and now I have to go through and fix it.  Yeesh.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience I've caused - Redemption was working fine just a week or two ago, so I never thought to check to see if the single player campaign was screwing up as well.

That's the problem with those factory based operating systems - they are always shit. I bet if you get the full version of the os, you'll get a totally different experience.
Title: Re: [Sticky] Maps of the Ages Download

*sigh* You can sure say that again.  I just did a format and *cringe* factory-default reset, followed by once again stripping out all the unnecessary crap, reinstalling my favorite browser and security software, and starting again from scratch.  This time, however, I've created a restore point, so hopefully I don't have to go through all the BS to fix things if it hoses up again.  I'm also leaving the blarghed language settings alone this time.

I've reinstalled and I'm in the process of repatching Redemption.  Once that's done, I'll test the single player campaign (if it's screwy, then I'll know the exact cause, and boy will I be pissed if it happens), and then, if that goes well, redownload and reinstall MoTA, AoRMod, and the White Rabbit mod.

Come hell, high water, or heinous system issues, I will NOT be denied!

Dope!!

Found another bug. It seems that after installing MoTA_System.nob, the conversation with the Bartender at the 4 Stags Inn in Prague has different dialogue with multi-choices that appears as just string values. This is caused by the Prophecy Discovery chronicle, which looks like it needs a re-script to fix the problem so that it doesn't use conversation files that already exist in the game.

I discovered this when playing AoR mod in Prague after installing MoTA. To do an immediate quick fix, you can open MoTA_System.nob with WINZIP and find all the nco files (inside the conversations sub folder) that start with numbers # and just delete them from the nob. This should fix the problem, but will cause the Prophecy Discovery Chronicle to no longer work right.

In the mean time, I'll try to fix the scripts of the Prophecy Discovery so that it uses unique nco files rather than what the game already has.

Well, thanks to the complete format/reinstall/other crap, almost everything seems to be working fine.  However, I did get one crash, after about five minutes of playing around in the map "bodythief_technocracylab."  Other than that, everything seems smooth.

EDIT: Upon further testing, it would appear that the previous crash was a fluke.

FUNCTIONALITY AT LAST!

Thanks for all the help trying to get the MoTA pack to work for me, Rainmoon.  I'm sorry if you felt I was accusing you of making a nonfunctional pack.  I really should have checked my own system first before posting here.  Now that it's resolved, however, I can confidently say that you've got some awesome maps here - I've yet to try out any of the maps with Chronicles or the like attached to them, but most of the empty maps I've tried are quite well-thought-out and solidly designed.  Kudos to the original artists for making them, and to you, Rainmoon, for packing them all together and ensuring they don't conflict.

Thanks for the comments and welcome to E-Mods.net . Dallas is a well done verison of New York. Great job.  ;)

PATCH UPLOADED:

I have uploaded a patched version of MoTA_System that fixes a few minor bugs. You do not have to download the whole thing again, just MoTA_System. The fixes are listed on the prime post of this topic.

Enjoy.

Most of the maps on it were just borrowed, I only mapped a few things in there: Yellow Jacket, Cathedral Archives/Breeding Grounds/Pack Haven, Abandon Basement, Club Zinc, and Apartment 666...maybe a few others.  But the real work was organizing the chronicle files and then stringing as much as I could find.

I must compliment you on E-Mod, certiainly a great accomplishment, many of the features (finally placing objects on tables!) would have been very nice to have back in the day when WoN was more popular.

Thanks. If you look in the MoTA version of the Black Triad Dallas chronicle file located within MoTA_System.nob, you'll notice that I renamed several nil file names to start out with either a perspective author name or a project name (for those maps I don't really know the specific author). There was only one truly unknown author and that was for the fightclub.

I had to go into several chronicle files to alter things for the new naming conventions. That was most likely the hardest part of puting this bad boy together. My main objective is to get rid as many 'unknowns' as possible so if you know the specific author for each unknown chronicle file then that would be great.

I noticed you threw in my Takaina club. hehe  ;)

Just remember that MoTA is in a world of its own and will not be compatible with the original works. This is mainly because of the massive alterations done to the naming conventions to make this HUGE pack easier to navigate as well as removing any possible conflict issues.

Thanks for all of your support. Hopefully this will be THE pack of choice for gamers seeking a huge archive of content that we can all play together without worrying about stability issues.

Ok found thus more problems. The enemies from the cotd pack no longer animate properly - well I can't be sure if this is because of the transfer to MoTA or an original problem with the pack.

I'll look into the templates of MoTA to see if I can't just assign a new animation file to them to fix the problem.

Ok I just realized that paine was not actually hosting the files on his website. He was creating links direct to the files on my server. So as of this moment, there is currently no place publicly available where anyone can download this sense I have removed all vampire related downloads from my site.

It has come to my attention that this version of MoTA does NOT have the patch fixes. The updated patch appears to be lost to the ages. I will have to build the patch all over again and include fixes to the other bugs that have propped up lately.

Can be also sound, music and codex and LastStand in *.nob files? Because i dont have chaos in codex files.

Title: Re: [Download] Maps of the Ages

No. They won't work in a a.nob file hence why they made folders.
Title: Re: [Download] Maps of the Ages
Post by: Javokis on 2007-06-03, 18:13:54
Ok I finally updated another patch for MoTA.

New Fixes:

-tribble_tbt was missing a script which caused the whole cutscene system to stop working
-flint_airfield was not loading
-Most of the CotD enemies were not animating or attacking and were missing weapons too
-Removed some _parent templates off of the ST list in multiplayer

If you had already downloaded MoTA then all you need is to download the MoTA_System .zip file. More template fixes are planned for future patches on MoTA as well as string fixes.

Ok I think I know what may be another clue as to what is causeing the crash bug with the map pack.  I have wod mod and naturally vtmr 1.1 etc.   the map pack works fine when I don't use wod mod however when I use the mod is when the crash occurs when you enter any map (includeing the default maps)...
Title: Re: [Download] Maps of the Ages (Patch Updated on 6/3/2007)
Post by: Javokis on 2007-08-07, 13:33:45
Though the Wod Mod team had originally determined the cause of crashing was due to a string limit, I suspect that strings aren't the only things working against the mod's stability. Long ago I made a patch for Wod Mod back in the golden days when their forum was still up. The patch only fixed the NOT files, but the result was a massive increase in stability and playability. I thing that redoing the WodMod system with all new fixed NOT files will not only improve stability, but should retain the pnp stats if modified correctly and with stability in mind.

Post by: LJW on 2007-08-07, 20:51:08
Yeah and I do admit I prefer seeing WOD stats in Redemption and the diffrent WOD clans, but now at least we might have an idea of why the game crashes when people try and access even the default maps.  It isn't just WoD Mod but other mods from what I've been reading seem to have the same problem it could be how the Mod accepts the map pack since alot of the items from the map pack came from other mods such as COTD etc (if only I could figure out this WODAL THING :p )

Say I have Celtic realm in MOTA and someone else has it in the Individual .Nob Celtic Realm we cant join the same game because both clients need to have MOTA.

Would just copy of the Nsc file and having it on the same name as the individual .nob nsc file do the trick?

Hmm nvm found that for some levels it will work and for some it wont
Title: Re: [Download] Maps of the Ages (New Download Page)
Post by: Javokis on 2007-08-26, 09:33:31
Yeah celtic realm is one of the few chronicles I did not have to rename level files, but a lot of others I did to allow for better navigation through file structure (sense MoTA has thousands of level files) and to prevent conflict with each other.
