Lava and see through water
« on: 2007-07-25, 06:49:37 »

I'm having a major problem trying to make a lava pitt in the the game.
no matter what i do i always get a hall of mirrors under it and it seems to get brighter and brighter
does anyone know what i exactly need to do
also i seem to have the same problem with water that you can see through, don't know if it's the same issue.

I've tried looking at the original maps and stuff other people made but i can't seem to duplicate it correctly

i'd appreciate any little bit of help that anyone can give

Have you checked all your sectors? make sure none are overlapping and cover the depth of the pit, set your grid to 1 and zoom in to each sector end to make sure theres no conflict there

Lava? Yes. I've seen people use the Mushroom skin texture for lava rather than the clear texture. The texture name is swgiantmushroom1_ny. Go into surface inspector after selecting the brush you apply the swgiantmushroom1_ny texture to then set the check box next to the No LightMap option to CHECKED to give the lava that glowing effect. Make sure the texture name in the Texture box of the Surface Inspector says: new_york/swgiantmushroom1_ny before applying the settings. As for clear water textures, be sure to set the NO CSG flag in Surface Inspector to CHECKED.

Hope that helps. ;)

THX for the quick responce

the mushroom texture one was the one that worked best.
I had to putt some lighting effects around the area but it looks great

i checked the sectoring and it all looked fine, still dunno why i got the hall of mirror crap
but i'm gonna check it out on water next.

again thanks guys
