Compaq Presario R3360US R3000 Series.
« on: 2010-08-05, 13:10:41 »
My old laptop which is a P4 3.00 Ghz, 764Mb DDR, 80Gb HDD and an ATi Radeon 9100 (Pixel Shader 1.4) up to 128 shared Ram seems to be strong enough to run games such as Redemption, Bloodlines, Oblivion (hell yeah you just read right) GTA SA and some other less known titles.

What really got my attention is that i was able to run GTA SA on this old mofo, and kinda make me curious on what else could i run here.

Redemption works beautifull up to 90 FPS
Bloodlines is Playable at 20-27 FPS
GTA SA works beautifull up to 40 FPS
Oblivion (Modded with Oldblivion) is playable at 16-23 FPS
Obscure working Good at 27-32 FPS
Doom3 Playable at 20-27 FPS

And the Rest of the games i got installed are just to old and easy for this old mofo, no problem, it would have been awsome to run Left4Dead... but oh well... it was way too much to ask for this old turd.

Since i cant play on my high end PC, i been playing Redemption, Bloodlines, Oldblivion and WarLords BattleCry III on my spare time... so i just may be able to run Milkshape and start messing with few things i have in mind, too bad my Giga files are stored on my PC... if i had just save the update to my 64GB usb stick, i would have continue to work on this damn old laptop.

If you have a friend with a desktop, you should be able to pop your hd out, install it in their computer as a 2nd storage drive and get the files off. That's the least expensive way to do it, other than buying an enclosure, which can cost as much as a PSU.

Enclosures are not that expensive. I bought two acomdata enclosures that were around the 25 range. Here's a list of choices for acomdata:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=acomdata+enclosure&x=0&y=0

The ones I bought had SATA and IDE compatibility. Be sure to look for that especially if your HD is IDE. I put an 80gb IDE in one and a 120gb IDE in the other. They work great.
