If we count only vanilla:
1. Mount&Blade: Warbands (currently only game with good melee combat, nothing fancy have it's problems, but it's the best) 2. Mount&Blade (have no multiplayer, and bit worse melee combat than warbands, but still have great singleplayer, probably the best i played) 3. Fallout 2 (great story, vast world and decent combat system - totally owns fallout 3, that totally sucks in all mentioned cases. I like it better than FO1, but it's also good game) 4. Die by the Sword (developed 11 years ago, and still have great melee combat, some of its aspects are still not beaten by other games) 5. Bloodlines (decent story, great setting and multiple options to end many quests, combat kind of sucks and it's linear, but still) 6. Dawn of War (better than DoW II atm, probably DoW II will beat it when mods starts to show up, but vanilla approach of DoW II disappointed me, as well as stupid choices for mp. SINDRI owned) 7. Stalker: SoC (good ranged combat, nice setting, great mood - with mods it's even better) 8. UFO: Aftermatch (nice tactical game) 9. Assassin's Creed (climbing and blending into crowd are good features, combat start to be boring very fast, great cities and better historical accuracy than i expected) 10. Witcher (great setting, few innovative ideas, wonderful dialogues and sucky combat ... )
