Blender 3d
« on: 2006-08-07, 03:30:32 »
I was screwing around with Blender and I came up with this weirdness.

I finally figured out how to apply textures. Took me long enough. heh

It's texturing system is more difficult than milkshape, but it is far more flexible. If only it could import/export nod files. :(

Blender 3d is a free modeling program that is open source and available to the community. Available here:

http://www.blender.org/cms/Home.2.0.html

You also need Python for it to run properly. Get it here:

http://www.python.org/

WARNING: This program has an overwelming amount of buttons that will confuse and maim you for several hours.

Patience is REQUIRED.

After following a tutorial on making water, I have created this:

It loooks like crystal, and in the distance, it looks like power is flowing through it.

I think I did the scaling wrong. I'll try again later.

Cool. I don't see how that makes you laim though.

Why not just download 3dsMax or Maya? I like Blender because it can import/export so many files and it's open source, but 3dsMax and Maya are the higher-end programs. Actually it's Maya that is the uncontested winner.

Cause they are are a lot more different then blender, and I've tried it with the Free Half-life 2 version, its even more confusing then the Flash MX interfact... (its a diff program, but it looks very hard to use))

Well it was a laim animation I think, but I'll do better with practic.

I use blender because I'm a cheap bastard and can't afford to pay for those 'higher-end' programs and don't tell me about the 'learning editions'. I already tried those and they don't allow me to do much and I just can't stand the platently intrusive logo slapped on everything I make.

Blender may be more complicated, but it's free.

I'm not talking about learning editions. I'm talking about pirated programs, like from MegaUpload or using a torrent.

Isn't it spelled lame? lol, but yeah I'd go with Maya, I mean if you wanna move on to the newer games to mod, Maya will come in handy in the long run, and just download it, I recomend using a torrent site, isohunt.com is good or torrentspy.com then you need a downloader, Azureus is really good to get It's really easy to use, but I completely understand if you just stick with blender

How the hell am I going to be a legit programmer if I use pirated crud? You can't use pirated stuff if you plan to go commercial in the far future.
