Missing Interface
« on: 2008-06-10, 11:16:57 »
Hi all,
in the last days I continued working on my little city project, but when I ran the map, I got the following problem:
http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=534033

As you can see, the whole Interface is missing. Does anyone have an idea, what I did wrong? Too many textures, maybe?
Sorry for my bad english ...

You've reached a memory limit, either by using to many large sized textures or too many high resolution lightmaps...

Try exporting it with a lower light resolution, my guess is you have either 4 or 8... 12 might do the trick.
How big is your city, does it fill the whole of the grid space?

Ok I'd imagine there being many lights?
You'd have to reduce the size, any possible sections that don't need to be there need to be removed and added by linking locations...

If you max out the light resolution to 64 you should be able to have everything rendered at the cost of lower quality lighting.

At this point I have a stupid question  ;D for one, who maps for years now: what does the Light Resolution do in the export menu? What does a higher ( for example 64 ) do; what does a lower ( for example 4 ) do?
I always use 16 for standart. Never changed that before.....

A lower number increases the sharpness of the shadows while a higher number blurs the shadows. Note that lower numbers require smaller face sizes thus smaller brushes. If you ever get a "Face size exceeds maximum ******  " something or other (it's been awhile) in the exporter's console screen while exporting a map then you either have to raise the lighting number or design your maps to be high shadow sharpness friendly - that mains don't make massively huge brushes and alternate your texture patterns in short sequences as in don't make large redundant texture patterns, spicen things up with realism.

Thanks, but that will still take alot of time. The images are not from one map. It?s planned to become one big city, and I?m workinge for two years on it ( always creating new maps and deleting old maps ;-) ), but unfortunally I?m working alone, so it?ll still take some time. I hope, that the chronicle will be created before the Vampire MMORPG will be released ^^
