Own Savegame folder for mod
« on: 2008-02-10, 19:38:39 »
Vampire, have default folders for all, savegames from all mods this can lead in few problems.
- you must remember which savegame is for which mod.. or you can crash game or damage this save by resaver in other mod.
- you have only circa 12 slots for all mods
- autosave only from last mod
- i have special problem with bugged restarting of my mod, i must sometimes delete autosave, elsewhere i dont see some npcs

I know so Javokis use special savefolders for this mods. Pleas write here easiest way to make this for another mods.

Here's some simple steps:

-Copy your Vampire.exe
-Rename the copied executable to a whatever name you want that is different.
-Remove the Read Only flag set on it by right clicking, choosing properties, then uncheck Read Only.
-Open the executable with a Hex Editor (Just Google it).
-Run a binary search of all SaveGames keywords and replace them all with a different name that is of the same length (Be creative).
-Save the changes as BINARY using your Hex Editor (Again just Google for Hex Editor and you'll see plenty of free Hex Editors out there).
-Run the new executable to make sure everything works. You should see a new folder created when you make a new game and none of original save games will appear on that new executable. You have just seperated your saves into a new folder for which the game now recoginizes.

On another note: I do use a specific Hex Editor called Cygnus Hex Editor FREE EDITION. It works well so google it.

http://www.volny.cz/nova-software/
And apply on vampire.exe you will see minimaly lots of links to *.cpp files and messages :)
