Vampire problem
« on: 2007-07-15, 18:20:31 »
Seems that redemption refuses to work right... i did a reinstall yesterday and seems i got some weird issues with maps and chronicles (premaded chrons and fan made) seems most of the maps i choose crash when i clic start, and the ones that DO work seems to start with me on top of the map (out side the map, being able to see from top) but there are no props AT ALL! nothing... just the whole map with not even the doors that cant be deleted... i have no idea what it is, i tried reinstalling the game several times  on different paths and each time its the same deal... anyone know or had this issue?

Are you making sure that the folder is gone when you uninstall? Be sure to delete the folder completely.  An uninstall does not remove custom content and saved data. Be sure to delete the VTM:R folder after you uninstall before you re-install the game. There may be a corrupted mod installed that is causing ALL template data to be scambled. I've seen it before installing some really badly made template files. Knowing how YOU .NOT edit, I wouldn't be surprised if the corruption was caused by a .not file you just created.

Ok, tried with a fresh install, made sure there was no redemption folder before installing or anything related, still problem persists with no maps and nobs installed... may just need to reinstall whole xp.

Those would be in the .nsd files.

Are you missing some .nob files? You should have the following files on a full install (with NOD SDK and Patch).

(image attached)

The .nsd files should be located in the Resource.nob file.

Ok... no idea what is going on here, when i installed the game (fresh install with no traces of redemption folder in program files or anything related to redemption) it worked ONCE! but thats it... i kinda just created a Christof char and enter curse of darkness and it worked, then i went to char selection again and choose prince mansion and CRASH... after that i could not enter any other chron or map, including curse of darkess that did work once in fresh install... as you can see from screen i have no .nob files installed, so i really dont know what is going on... im just gona format the pc and try again.

Ok i just noticed something, when i create new char and enter map IT works, but if i leave and enter same map with same char the game will crash or i start in the map with me on top of the map and no props... but if i create new char then game will work ONCE for that char... what the hell is going on!?

It seems its something related to the char at the "Crypt" folder or at the "Save Game" folder since i can access any map ONCE, if its a new char... this is rather crazy, redemption has NEVER ever give me trouble... i also used the game like 2 weeks ago and it was working fine, but how could this problem persist if i have already installed the game like 6 times (each time different path from regular program files) with no mods and nobs? i think either my pc or redemption corrupting the character or the map each time i access a chron or map.

OR MY fresh installed NOT files inside the Resource.nob are kinda currupted... can you upload the 4 main NOT files in a zip, Javokis? if that dosent help im doing a XP reinstall.

(Edit)
Another quick question, does redemption has to appear in the Add/Remove Software option? cause i dont see it there

This is it, im doing a XP reinstall after i defrag and scan disk for errors.

Maybe this has something to do with the Indexing Service bug.

Hmm. Try this:

Go to Start>Control Panel

Choose Administrative Tools then Services.

Find the Indexing Service and start it.
(Double click then press Start button from the pop-up window - set its Startup Type to Automatic.)

See if that helps. Otherwise try downloading the NOT files attached:

Well I found out that my mom's new computer has this problem. I have to keep going into the SaveGames folder and removing __Current__ everytime I play a chronicle.

So... how you fix it (in case it happends again, formating is way too drastic for just a game)

did you read my post?

is pretty much the only fix I know.
