Oh yeah. I forgot about this thread. I just bought the two resident evil movies on dvd. I figure I'd just buy to have them. The first one was tolerably inaccurate, but the second one was a little much to handle (It was way off the mark).

What? the first one was utter dogshit. The second was a more or less direct copy of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. At least Nemesis looked the part. Jill Valentine is bloody sexy as well. I still dont understand the point of the Alice character when the series has such a strong line up of characters in the first place.

Did a bit of reseach on the next film (extinction) and it sounds like utter tripe again.

Its got Claire Redfield, Carlos and Albert Wesker in it as well as the black guy called LJ (the one with the golden desert eagles from the second film). Funnily enough as Paul Dickhead 'I fuck up every franchise Im involved with - look at Alien vs Predator' Anderson is directing again, Jill Valentine has vanished off the face of the earth with no explantion!!

Its got that doctor bloke from the end of the last film who lets Alice go who gets Wesker to do some experiments blah blah blah and eventually turns himself into a Tyrant....like you'd do that to yourself.

I tried not to look at it as a game conversion. More as just a movie. As a movie, the first one was tolerable, but the second one I found to a little much - it made no sense in not only just throwing a bunch of RE franchise creatures around, but every scene was filled with convenient cliches.

As movies in their own right i though the first was very mediocre. The Licker looked appalling and the acting was cheesy.

The second i thought was a good action flick. Plenty of stuff going on and some ok acting. Nemesis looked really good but i was disappointed with the Alice character yet again.

Next game/movie tie in im looking forward to seeing is actually Hitman. This film looks like it could actually be a success and a decent film in its own right. The director said recently that he sees Agent 47 as a really cool character that just happens to originate from a videogame. Id agree, hopefully it wont be utter crap!!

Timothy Olyphant plays 47 mate. Its due for release in the US on 21st November. He's been in a few films (Die Hard 4 - the main bad guy / Dreamcatcher / Gone in 60 Seconds) and he played the lead roll of some Sheriff in Deadwood on the telly.

47 was originally going to be Vin Diesel but he pulled out about a year ago. Statham would be the obvious next choice but as his American accents are complete shite that's probably the reason they didnt cast him! Olyphant actually looks alright in the role and he's a decent enough actor. Just have to see if this film falls foul of the curse of videogame - movie as so many others have done.

P.S. The trailer is actually the new one and shows a lot more than the original teaser. Looks like a good action film to me!
