Im building this model for VTMR and after getting the overall shape roughed in im at the point where finer details may be made, so in order to know how to proceed Id like to know the Recommended amount of Polys on a player model , thanks

I'd say whatever doesn't cause a crash. There is a limit to the number of polies per group, but no limit to the number of groups - at least as far as we know...

I think the original game models used around 2-3000 polies each standard. Been awhile sense I looked into it so don't quote me on that one.

Yeah im just asking if I should save on polys by doing things manually or just do overall subdivision modeling and having extra faces

Just try as low as possible while it still looks good.
