If you order online, you can avoid taxes.

I have no idea about taxes in other countries but definitely get the premium pack. If you buy the cheaper core version it will cost more to buy the things that come in the premium seperately (hard drive, headset etc.). Plus you will get a wired controller as opposed to a wireless one in the premium, oh and the disc tray will be a boring grey as opposed to a nice shiny chrome effect!

Make sure to add me to your friends list when you get one.

I hope the 360 drops by spring because that's when I buy it, but I'll probably go through newegg, but only if they have free shipping specials.

Answers!

With the Xbox Live silver account (the free one) you can do everything bar play games online. So you can voice chat, download from the marketplace (demos, trailers, gamerpics etc.) etc. etc.

You dont need a credit card but its easier to buy points that way. You can find prepaid scratch cards with say for example 1000 microsoft points (ms points being Lives currency) online on places like Amazon or Play.com (which tend to be cheaper than buying the same amount through live) or in shops that sell games like GAME, HMV etc. You can also buy the years Gold subscription through retail as well.

Any other info you want on the 360, just ask!

Well as youre quite, quite mad...i think youre asking about the benefits of the gold subscription right? Well, for starters you get to play your games online with other people which is a good thing. The £39.99 yearly fee pays for the super-reliable servers that Microsoft hosts. I personally dont think its a bad thing, its not exactly breaking the bank expensive is it!? Secondly, you get to download demo's and a few other things a week before Silver members. Its really only demo's that you get to download early. The odd video diary or feature is sometimes like that as well.

The thing with Sony's free online thing is that they dont host the servers. From what i can tell from doing a bit of digging, its up to the game companies to host the servers for the games. But dont quote me on that! I have heard rumours of MMO-style subscriptions to play games online on the PS3, but apparently this is up to the owners of the game.
