The PS3 isnt the all-bells-and-whistles machine Sony hyped it up to be. Out of all the launch games, the only one worth getting was Resistance Fall of Man. The rest were available on the 360 and Wii, with the 360 versions boasting better resolution textures and smoother framerates and the Wii versions having better motion-sensitive controls.
The 360 will support DX10. The only reason Microsoft wont release DX10 onto PCs without Vista is because they dont want to, its not a technology thing its because they want to give people a reason to upgrade their OS. I find it hard to believe MS would knowingly produce a machine at such a price to their company (the Xbox brand is only now just starting to turn a marginal profit) that wouldnt support DX10 a year down the line.
The PS3 is massively overpriced and i believe Blu-Ray will go the way of Betamax, Minidisc and UMD...Sony just arent that good at making new media stuff, their hardware is great (apart from this PS3 fuck up) but thats it. All its games are going to be the same as last time, sequels. Theyve already pulled development of Gran Turismo HD and theyre too lazy to have secured exclusivity deals with publishers/developers.
Look at the games theyve already missed out on: Assassin's Creed & GTA IV to name two. The you've got the exclusive stuff like Gears of War, Viva Pinata, Project Gotham Racing, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Mass Effect etc. They already missed out on gems like Oblivion (yes its coming out soon but who cares now? It was released fucking ages ago!), Ghost Recon AW, Call of Duty 2, Rainbow Six Vegas etc. coz they took too long to make the machine!
Sony have well and truly fucked up BIG time this generation for thinking they could wait a year, then introduce an overpriced machine that cant do what they said it could do...and they think the public are just going to carry on as normal? The cheapest PS3 that is available is $500! You can get a premium 360 for $400 or something! Theyre selling those at £280 over here with a free wireless pad and two games!!
Im in no way a MS fan-boy, i have a PSP now and have owned an original Playstation, a PSOne, and a PS2.
As for Capcom in particular, well...what can i say? What games have they released for the PS3 yet??? What games do they have in production for it now? Resident Evil 5 is all that i know of. Theyve already released Dead Rising and Street Fighter II Turbo on the 360. Lost Planet is coming out in January, Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 are already in pre-production (and are 360 exclusives - see what i mean about Sony being lazy in securing exclusive games?) and Resident Evil 5 is coming out for the 360 at the same time as PS3.
Square have already released Final Fantasy XI on the 360 and i find it hard to believe they'll just stay with Sony in the coming years, they said goodbye to Nintendo after YEARS didnt they.
As for Konami, not sure what theyre doing, not even sure what franchises they have anymore apart from Metal Gear.
Regarding the 360 launch, the only thing i remember was the lack of consoles. There were no bugs with the system, there never have been (apart from a few launch consoles dying, which is inevitable - look at the PS2 launch). As for games, the was Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo (still one of the best-looking games ive ever played), Condemded, Perfect Dark Zero, Call of Duty 2, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Full Auto, King Kong, Madden 06, GUN, Ridge Racer 6, Quake 4, Tony Hawks, Amped 3, Tiger Woods, 2 different NBA games, Fifa 06 and NHL 2K6.
As for the PS3 launch, well of the original 30 titles they said that it was going to launch with, 18 made it...12 of which were already out on the 360 with better framerates and textures. Of the 6 exclusive titles that got released with the machine, the only ones that got above and 8 score on Gamespot were Resistance and Ridge Racer 7. The others got 6.4 (Genji), 5.7 (Full Auto 2), 3.7 (Mobile Suit Gundam) and 6 (Untold Legends). Thats why i have no confidence in this machine.
No bias, the machine just has crap games and is too expensive...oh and is a year behind the 360 with nothing more to add apart from motion sensitive controllers...that dont rumble anymore.
